The “Abbey/Minster” model of Church life
Incarnation’s mission is to create Christ-centered community in the wider region of Southern New Hampshire.
This begins from the center, where we worship and receive the Sacraments as a unified body. But it branches out from the center, as deep community is built in our homes, neighborhoods, and the relationships of our daily lives. This way of doing church comes from the Celtic heritage of St. Patrick, St. Columba, St. Aidan, and many others. It speaks to a history of abbeys and monks, and ancient stone churches. It was a way of living the Christian faith that was deeply attractive to many people as these communities significantly contributed to the conversion of England and Western Europe. But this way also brings something we need today more than ever: an experience of the Christian faith that is transcendent but also completely grounded in the beauty and struggles of our daily life and neighborhoods.
